New Opportunity - Assistant Management Accountant
We’re pleased to announce an exciting opportunity within our Finance Department for the position of Assistant Management Accountant.
This role is essential to the smooth running of our finance function and offers a fantastic opportunity for professional growth. Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Developments & Investments Groups with management accounts, budgeting, VAT, and more.
💼 Key Responsibilities Include:
- Preparing monthly management accounts and board report information
- Completing and submitting VAT returns
- Supporting budgeting and variance analysis
- Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring strong accounting controls
- Assisting with statutory accounts and the annual audit process
🔍 What We’re Looking For:
- Part-qualified (ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent) – essential
- Experience preparing management accounts – essential
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
- Strong Excel skills; Sage Line 50 experience desirable
- Ability to manage workload, meet deadlines, and work well in a team

Job Title: Assistant Management Accountant
Accountable To: Finance Manager (Developments & Investments Groups, Payments, VAT & CIS)
Job Purpose Statement:
Duties will include preparing management accounts, budgeting, variance analysis, managing ledgers and preparing VAT returns.
The Assistant Management Accountant provides whatever support is necessary for the Finance team.
Main Responsibilities:
- Preparation of Monthly management accounts for the Developments & Investments Groups to agreed timescales including monthly prepayment and accrual journals, deferring of income, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analysis commentary and information for board reports.
- Ensure the completion and timely delivery of VAT returns.
- Ensure financial records are maintained in accordance with accepted policies and procedures.
- Assist the Finance Director, Financial Controller and Finance Manager in the establishment and monitoring of accounting controls.
- Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analyses of revenues and expenses.
- Analyse financial information to ensure the efficient use of resources.
- Support with preparation of budgets for the Developments & Investments Groups.
- To carry out ad-hoc assignments as directed by the Finance Manager, Financial Controller, Finance Director and/or Chief Executive Officer.
- Support our external accountants with preparation of statutory accounts for Developments & Investments Groups.
- Support the team with the annual audit process including liaison with auditors.
Dimensions:
Responsible for preparation of the Managements Accounts of the Developments & Investment Groups.
Knowledge, skills and experience required:
- Part qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA or equivalent - essential).
- Experience of preparation of management accounts (essential).
- Experience of working in the property industry (desirable).
- Multi-company accounting experience, including inter-company reconciliations.
- An ability to prioritise and organise workload, multi-task and adapt quickly to change and deliver under the pressure of deadlines.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good organisation and communication skills.
- Working knowledge and understanding of Sage Line 50 accounting software (desirable).
- Ability to solve problems, exercise judgment and work to deadlines.
- Computer literate with sound knowledge of Word and Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including good telephone manners and comfort in dealing with people of all levels, internally as well as externally.
- Ability to work in a team-orientated environment.
- Ability to always maintain confidentiality.
